The Collegetown grocery store group held a public meeting in mid-March to discuss the idea of a grocery store located in Collegetown with key stakeholders and members of the community. The public meeting was a successful meeting of the minds between DesignConnect and the Collegetown Neighborhood Council. Topics covered in the meeting ranged from access to healthy foods, a discussion on transportation issues related to a potential Collegetown grocery store and a presentation given by GreenStar about a potential Collegetown location. Based on the feedback from the public meeting, the DesignConnect group will be conducting a wider survey of students to gauge their interest in a Collegetown grocery store. The data collected from the pubic meeting and survey will provide the basis for the team’s feasibility study of a a Collegetown grocery store. In addition to the aforementioned feasibility study, the Collegetown Grocery store team will also do a study on parking feasibility. The two feasibility studies will provide the stakeholders of the Collegetown grocery store project. Below is the final project proposal. Expect a final update at the end of the semester.
